About Us: FatMornings—All About the Food
Why do I have a recipe website?
I love to cook, and I do it often enough that I find it convenient to be able to access recipes from lots of locations (while grocery shopping, cooking at friends' houses, etc.) Plus, I often get asked to share a recipe when I cook for family or friends, and this site is a convenient, easy way to do that. FatMornings is actually the second recipe website I've had. The first was started in 1997 when I was in graduate school, and it was imaginatively called "Allison Klein's Recipe Website". I migrated the content over to its current form and URL in 2008.
Why are many of these recipes from other sources?
I make no claims to being a great chef. I'm not a trained cook, and this really is just a collection of recipes that I like enough to make more than once and share them with others. Many of the recipes here are versions I found elsewhere and then modified to suit my own tastes. I do, however, always try to give due credit to the original source.
Why FatMornings?
To me, being able to sleep late and then have a big breakfast is the height of luxury. It's the ultimate sign of being on vacation or not having to work. The name tries to capture that feeling. It comes from the French idiom "faire la grasse matinée", which means "to sleep in"(literally "to make/have a fat morning").
